LogisticsBC enjoyed the “Container Trail” tour hosted by the Port of Vancouver. After boarding the bus and departing the Port of Vancouver’s Delta Community Office, our wonderful hosts Tanya Hawke and Marc Testa escorted us to Tilbury Industrial Park where we viewed container depots, logistics warehouses, Seaspan’s barge dock and the Fortis CNG facility.
We then headed toward Deltaport to see the truck staging facility, the container examination facility and the Deltaport Logistics Center on the Tsawwassen First Nation. Our last stops were at the Roberts Bank coal export facility and the Global Container terminal where we were very fortunate to see a ship being loaded.
Along the way, Tanya and Marc provided details of the port’s operations and answered the many questions fielded by our group. All in all, it was a fantastic tour, the weather was beautiful, we learned a lot and a great time was had by all!
